  • Proactive safety

Prevent breaches with alerts for drivers for breaks and monitor compliance fleet-wide live.

  • Save costs & time

EWD will calculate activity times against fatigue schedules for you, reducing admin time and manual paperwork.

  • Smarter rostering

Plan shifts around the work hours drivers have left, not what the paperwork says at the end of the week.

  • Built into what drivers already use

Managing driver fatigue is critical to safe heavy vehicle operations. MTData’s Electronic Work Diary (EWD) gives both drivers and managers a clear, digital way to plan work and rest, protect drivers, and stay compliant with fatigue laws. An easier way to elevate your fatigue management with less effort.

Using the in‑vehicle Talon tablet, drivers can record their work and rest under the approved NHVR schemes (Standard Hours, Basic Fatigue Management and Standard 2up). The EWD automatically tracks their hours across the 28‑day work diary period and shows when breaks are due.

Drivers can:

  • See upcoming breaks and how long they need to stop for at any time in their shift.
  • Use simple on‑screen timers and prompts to help them start and finish breaks on time.
  • Receive clear visual and audible alerts as they get close to a potential fatigue breach.

If a driver goes into breach, Talon clearly alerts the driver and the breach is also visible to managers in the EWD portal and Hawk-Eye, supporting faster follow‑up and investigations.

The EWD automatically applies the complex fatigue rules over rolling time windows (hours, days and weeks) and classifies breaches by severity. This removes manual calculations, improves accuracy and gives both drivers and operators greater confidence in their compliance records.

MTData’s EWD is approved by the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator, ensuring fatigue compliance across your entire fleet as part of your Safety Management System (SMS). Managers can check, plan and review driver work schedules in line with Australian Fatigue Schemes. Fleet managers can monitor risks before a problem arises. No more manual diary calculations and complexities of understanding fatigue schemes.
